We were invited to participate in a design and ideas competition to create a visual concept for a series of billboards in Tirol, Austria. The goal was to showcase the diversity of the region and to create and promote a new understanding and image for Tyrol. We developed the concept of “Tirol hat Tiroler” roughly translating to “Tyrol got Tyroleans”, displaying various benchmarks and data about the region in a series of data visualizations, recalling the look and feel of an annual report. The phrase “Tyrol got…” is applied over a number of terms, such as “Tyrol got Energy”, or “Tyrol got Spirit” with facts supporting the statement featured in diagrams and graphs. In addition to the billboards, we suggested to create an annual publication - the “Tiroler Datenbuch”.
